Issue 32.

Sales fitness.

Sales fitness.

I really like this idea.

Of sales fitness.

Sales is like any activity -

There are two tasks you have to do:

If you want to get good at it.

Learn the techniques.

Repeat the techniques.

That's the same for anything -

running, knitting, playing an instrument, start-up, whatever.

So, what are the techniques in sales?

Hard skills:

Writing, Emailing, LinkedIn, CRM, Follow-up, & Pitch decks.

Soft skills:

Listening, Reading a room, Empathy, Building trust, & Likeability.

The hard skills are essential.

The soft skills make you great.

In theory, it's easier to learn the hard skills:

Get good at writing, Get great at follow-up, Understand the systems, Understand the tools.

But it's the soft skills that will separate you.

The ability to make someone feel like they want to buy from you.

The ability to never sell.

But always creating the space for the person to buy from you.

That's the difference.

It's taken me tens of thousands of hours to hone my soft skills,

And I still have tens of thousands of hours to go.

But for you, if you want to master sales, put the hours into the hard skills.

And put your thought process, your feeling, your empathy into the soft skills.

Remember, it's never about you.

It's always about the customer.

Make them feel like they want to buy from you, and you'll be able to sell forever.

Get selling.
