Issue 17.

How to hire a sales person.

How to hire a sales person.

It is hard.

Because all salespeople present well.

They come with their smile.

Well presented.

Good chat.

How do you know if they can deliver?

Let’s start with the basics.

If you don’t really like them in the first five minutes don’t hire them.

The client won’t buy from them either if they don’t really like them.

Next.

How much did they find out about you?

Did they show real interest in you?

Did they keep the conversation focused on you?

Now about them.

Are they a grinder?

Will they get their hands dirty?

Will they pick up the phone?

Will they do outreach at scale?

Do they have a personal brand?

How to know?

Ask them these questions.

“Would you hire yourself?”

“What’s your best cold call line?”

‘“Why do you love sales?”

Then we need to know if they fit in.

This is critical.

Many salespeople are egotistical

It comes with the territory :-). (yes, me too).

We want confidence, not arrogance.

Do you feel they will fit in with everyone?

Ask the question.

“Do you like to sell alone or in a team?”.

It’s a tricky question to answer.

But the real key is this.

There are 4 traits they have to have.

Humus - They must be funny.

Humility - They must be humble.

Hustle - They must be workers.

Honorable - They must be trustworthy.

If they have all of this, you are good.

You notice I didn’t say anything about their experience.

Not really relevant.

Anyone can get experience.

Hire for attitude.

Not aptitude.
