Issue 14.

Don’t play results.

Don’t play results.

That’s a poker lesson I am learning.

It means, if you made the right decision, the result doesn’t matter.

So if you got your money in with positive odds let the results be what they are.

The same can be applied to sales targets.

I am not a huge fan.

Sure they motivate us.

To hit them.

But they are a result.

What should motivate you is the process.

Get the sales process right.

Generating interest.

Listening not talking.

Follow up.

CRM ninja.

Do all that repeatedly and the result will be the result.

Because why stop at the target?

Surely if you love sales, you want to do more

You should sell as much as you can.

Not as much as someone else says.

The result will be the result.

1m a year.

2m a year.

3m a year.

Why stop at the line?

If you love the process.

And learn the skills.

Then repeat them more than anyone else.

That target will be in your rearview mirror.

Not the thing that motivates you.

That holds you back when you hit it.

Smile and dial.

Get better at it every day.

And the result.

Will make you and everyone else smile.

Because a target is only a Mirage.

And that is not the one I am thinking of.
