‘Shoot your shot’.

‘Shoot your shot’.

I can be a fanboy.

I love to follow people who are doing great things.

My favourite ultra runner is David Roche.

A wildly smart quirky unique dude.

He does it all differently and he has won the biggest races.

But he wins by putting huge goals out there.

Almost unachievable goals.

And he says it publicly

He is humble but puts it out there.

He doesn’t say he will win. He just says he has to believe he can.

And he has two sayings he comes back to.

‘Shoot your shot”.

And “throw the ball from the halfway line”

Both mean ‘try crazy things’.

Huge goals.

I love this attitude.

Especially in sales.

You have to be willing to miss many many times.

Many times.

Many times.

And try things that seem silly.

I emailed Steven Bartlett yesterday.

He is a famous dude. Offering 100k if you email him.

So throw the ball from halfway.

If you are selling.

Sell to the top person.

Sell to the person who seems out of your reach.

Always pitch the CEO.

Sure you will almost certainly miss.

But it feels way better than not trying.
